If you’ve never heard of the show, it begins with 100 participants, with the number slowly decreasing as they try to answer questions that only a certain percentage of the nation answered correctly in hopes of winning a life-changing sum of money.
The final question is so tough that only 1% of those surveyed got it right – hence the show’s name.
As usual, comedian and host Lee Mack brought his signature charm to the show, but this time he also brought a curveball. During the episode, he asked contestants the ultimate head-scratcher: “Which of these groups of six symbols are in the same order whether you read them from left to right or from right to left?”
Cue confusion, panic, and a lot of squinting at the screen. Contestants were given five options, but the moment the answer was revealed, chaos erupted both in the studio and on social media.

It wasn’t just that the answer — C — was announced. It’s that viewers refused to believe it was correct. Many swore it should’ve been A, not C, claiming the show made an error. The screen flashed C, but social media users insisted the truth was murkier than that.
The debate spilled over to X (formerly known as Twitter), where fans tried to solve the mystery—or just vent their frustration.
One user wrote: “I said A and I still think A. I don’t understand how it’s not.”
Another was straight-up begging for answers: “Can someone please explain how it’s C?”
Another added: “I thought it was A. C isn’t in the same order. Explain please someone?”
“I said A and I still think A. I don’t understand how it’s not,” another viewer replied.
Others argued it was all about interpretation.
“This is a trick question,” one viewer declared. “A or C could be correct depending on the definition of right to left used.”
But the plot thickened when one particularly determined fan laid out their theory in full: “It’s not about being mirrored; it’s about what symbol is what. So A would be (from L-R): left bracket, right bracket, left bracket etc., but R-L it would be: right bracket, left bracket etc., which is different. Whereas C is left arrow-right arrow-right arrow etc. from both ends!”
If that explanation left your brain feeling like scrambled eggs, you’re not alone.
Despite the uproar, a handful of contestants actually managed to crack the code, with four lucky winners splitting a whopping £97,000 ($122,000) jackpot after acing the final question.
But for the rest of us, who are still scratching our heads? Let’s just say it’s probably a good thing we’re watching from the couch and not on stage.
And this isn’t the first time the show caused carnage on couches.
The Australian version of the show – hosted by comedian Jim Jefferies – recently asked the question: “Frodo has forgotten his hotel room number. All he remembers is that it had at least one ‘nine’.
“If the hotel has rooms numbered one to 100, how many might be Frodo’s?” he added.
Once again, the correct answer – which was 19 – caused uproar in comment sections as people refused to believe the show was correct.

Modern viewers are calling out ‘fatphobic’ and ‘sexist’ jokes in Love Actually
People are rewatching Love Actually and are shocked at what they are seeing…
As the holiday season unfolds, many of us are indulging in festive treats, dodging awkward family interactions, and cozying up with beloved Christmas classics.
Among the traditional favorites like Home Alone and The Grinch, one film that continues to capture the holiday spirit for many is Love Actually.
However, this year, the 2003 romantic comedy directed by Richard Curtis is stirring fresh controversy.
While its ensemble cast and interwoven love stories have made it a holiday staple, a growing number of viewers are calling out the film for what they see as problematic elements, including sexism and fatphobia.
Discontent has been building on social media, with users on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) sharing their discomfort with the movie’s treatment of certain characters.
One user criticized the film’s portrayal of body image, saying: “The fat shaming in Love Actually makes it unwatchable. Whoever the man is who wrote this owes women an apology.”
Another echoed similar sentiments: “I love Love Actually, if only it wasn’t sexist and fatphobic.”
Others noted how these aspects overshadow their enjoyment of the film: The whole movie is utterly appalling. Makes me [sick emoji].”
“God there’s so much cringey #fatphobic lines in Love Actually. Kinda ruins it,” added another.
Much of the criticism focuses on the treatment of Martine McCutcheon’s character, Natalie.
Despite being a central romantic figure in the movie, Natalie is repeatedly subjected to disparaging remarks about her body.
In one scene, she recalls her ex-boyfriend’s cruel comment: “Nobody wants a girlfriend with thighs the size of tree trunks.”
Elsewhere, Natalie is referred to as “the chubby girl,” nicknamed “Plumpy,” and described as having a “sizeable a**e and huge thighs.”
Such lines, which once might have been played for humor, are now being reexamined through a modern lens.
Critics have also highlighted broader issues of sexism within the film.
Equality expert Dr. Charlotte Proudman tweeted earlier this year: “Films about all-white straight male characters who sit around laughing at women’s weight and appearance are boring as well as sexist. Love Actually is seriously cringeworthy.”

Some viewers have pointed to problematic storylines, such as Colin’s journey to the U.S. to find women who will fawn over him, or Harry’s (Alan Rickman) infidelity with his assistant, which is glossed over with minimal repercussions.
Additionally, Mark’s unrequited love for his best friend’s wife is rewarded with a kiss, rather than being met with a more realistic confrontation.
Despite these criticisms, Love Actually remains a cherished film for many, and stays cemented as a holiday tradition.

The streaming service added the new movie, Carry-On, which is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and stars Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman.
The movie follows a mysterious traveler (Bateman) who blackmails a young TSA agent named Ethan Kopek (Egerton) “into letting a dangerous package slip through security and onto a Christmas Eve flight,” per IMBD.
The stakes are incredibly high, as the potential consequences for the passengers could be catastrophic.
The rest of the cast includes Sofia Carson as Nora Parisi, Ethan’s girlfriend, Danielle Deadwyler as Elena Cole, and Logan Marshall-Green as Agent Alcott.
Watch the trailer below:Carry On has been hailed as one of the top releases of the season, earning an impressive 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Viewers have also been raving about the movie on social media. “#CarryOn #CarryOnNetflix was a top-notch thriller movie!!” one user gushed.
A second user shared that they were “on the edge of my seat,” and “got two heart rate alerts on my Apple Watch, I literally had to sit up to watch it bc laying down was too stressful”.
Some people have even gone as far as saying the movie is much better than Bruce Willis’s Die Hard.
One user wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the film “does ‘Die Hard in an airport’ better than the actual Die Hard in an airport”.
Another person said: “Carry-On literally the movie Die Hard 2 wished it had been,” while a third added: “Watched the new Netflix movie Carry On tonight. Bit like Die Hard but much better and genuinely a Christmas movie unlike the actual Die Hard.”

Director Collet-Serra has acknowledged the influence of Die Hard on the project, telling BBC: “Everyone wants to make the next Die Hard, and the reality is that no one ever will – it’s a perfect movie that can’t be replicated and also a very specific product of its time.”
Like Willis’ John McClane, Egerton’s character is an ordinary person thrust into an unusual situation, balancing work and danger.
The filmmaker stressed that the new film is a standalone story that pays homage to its predecessor.
“But when I read the script for Carry-On, I felt like I had found a more grounded version of Die Hard – which was our North Star for the entire process – for a new generation,” Collet-Serra remarked.

With Christmas just a week away, many are indulging in festive, family-friendly films, while others prefer a more thrilling viewing experience.
One TV show that many have been binge-watching is called La Palma, a Norwegian four-part drama.
The series stars Anders Baasmo Christiansen, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Alma Günther, Bernard Storm Lager, Thea Sofie Loch Næss, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and Jorge de Juan.
Watch the La Palma trailer below:According to the synopsis, the Kasper Barfoed-directed show “follows a group of geological researchers and a family of four confronting a potential ecological crisis” on the Spanish island, which is off the coast of Africa.
One of the scientists discovered “alarming signs about the volcano located in the center of the holiday paradise,” cited by The Mirror.
“She must convince her colleagues that the worst-case scenario is about to happen. If the volcano erupts, a mountain mass the size of Manhattan might erupt into the sea and cause the largest tsunami the world has ever seen,” it continued. “Will the family manage to escape the disaster of ash, gas, and lava in a fight for their lives?”
The series was released on the streaming service on December 12 and has already exploded onto Netflix’s Top 10 TV show charts.
It became the most-watched non-English show, garnering 40,200,000 viewing hours, proving that it has been well-received by viewers all over the world.
“I just watched La Palma on Netflix and it was really good,” one user gushed, while another gave it a “10/10” rating.
“I just binge watched La Palma on Netflix. That was insane,” a third commented. “I watched all of La Palma on Netflix yesterday cuz it was pretty entertaining,” a fourth added.

Despite the rave reviews on social media, La Palma has not gone down well on Rotten Tomatoes, earning a poor 33% rating. It has also been given a 6.3/10 score on IMDb.
One critic wrote that the four-part series “is enjoyable and binge-watch-worthy, making us watch a terrifying reality in an engaging way”.
Another reviewer said the “character development is uneven and there are some unbelievable plot conveniences” but added that the “stunning visuals, palpable moral dilemmas, and family dynamics work to offset the shortcomings so this isn’t a full-on storytelling disaster”.
La Palma is available to stream now on Netflix.
‘Home Alone’ viewers are still only just realizing why Kevin’s family left him behind in the first place
Have you ever wondered how Kevin McCallister’s family didn’t realize that he wasn’t on the plane with them?
Christmas is a time for getting the family together, eating some good food, and settling down with some festive flicks.
Everyone has their favorite, but there are some that sit solidly at the top each year.
Die Hard, Love Actually, and Elf spring to mind – but Home Alone is one that you can’t escape from.
And in fairness, it’s a classic.

Home Alone would also be a pretty short film if Kevin’s parents were a bit more diligent with checking on their children.
For those unfamiliar with the plot – a rare group, no doubt – the film follows Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, an eight-year-old accidentally left behind when his family departs for their Christmas vacation.
While home alone, Kevin must defend his house from two bumbling burglars using an ingenious array of traps and pranks.
But there’s a subtle detail early in the movie that reveals exactly how Kevin ended up being left behind – a detail many viewers miss on their first watch.
The chaos begins the morning of the flight when a power outage resets the McCallister family’s alarm clocks. In the mad rush to make their flight, the family mistakenly counts a neighbor’s child as part of their group, leaving Kevin unnoticed at home.

Yet this explanation leaves one glaring question: how could his parents not realize Kevin was missing when handing over plane tickets at the airport?
The answer lies in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment the night before.
During dinner, Kevin and his brother Buzz have an argument that leads to spilled milk – and a mess of passports and plane tickets.
As the family scrambles to clean up, Kevin’s father unwittingly throws Kevin’s ticket into the trash, hidden among red napkins.
The camera briefly focuses on the discarded ticket, labeled with Kevin’s name, before it’s covered up and forgotten.
It’s a small but crucial detail that explains how the McCallisters missed having an extra ticket at the gate.
Even decades after the movie’s release, some fans are still uncovering this hidden detail. Social media has reignited the discussion, with Twitter users expressing surprise at the revelation.
“Okay this is crazy lol and I’m sure people have found this Easter egg many times, but for me I just realized that in Home Alone, Kevin’s dad accidentally threw away Kevin’s plane ticket. Which explains how they didn’t realize anyone was missing handing out tickets at the gate,” one user wrote.
Another fan connected this discovery to a moment in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992), where Kevin makes it onto a plane with his ticket in hand – only to end up in the wrong city.
People are stunned after learning what Kevin’s ‘Home Alone’ groceries would cost today
Young Kevin McAllister got left home alone so he had to do the shopping for himself… but how much did it all cost?
Home Alone is a holiday favorite and it’s hard to find anybody who doesn’t love to watch it at this time of year.

While his parents frantically attempt to return home, Kevin fends off two bumbling burglars, showcasing his ingenuity and resourcefulness.
One memorable scene sees Kevin embracing his independence, venturing to the supermarket to stock up on essentials.
But here’s the question fans have been buzzing about: if Kevin were grocery shopping in 2024, would his $20 bill still cover the cost?
TikTok creator Geoffrey Lyons recently went viral for crunching the numbers on Kevin’s iconic haul. Let’s revisit what Kevin purchased:
- TV dinner
- Loaf of Wonder Bread
- Frozen mac and cheese
- Cling wrap
- Half gallon (2L) of milk
- Tide laundry detergent
- Toilet paper
- Half gallon (2L) of orange juice (with a $1 coupon)
- Pack of army men
- Dryer sheets
In 1990, Kevin’s total came to $19.83, just under $20, thanks to his thrifty coupon.
But Lyons revealed that prices today have skyrocketed – a staggering 248% increase.
The same list in 2023 would cost Kevin $68.00, including tax.
The revelation sparked a debate online, with commenters being shocked at the stark difference in costs.
“$100 bill is the new $20 bill,” one person said. Another added: “Plus it wouldn’t be a $1 off coupon now, it would be 50¢ off.”
A third joked: “So what you’re telling me is that my kids couldn’t survive if I accidentally left them home alone to go on a trip to Paris?”
Last year, fans celebrated another milestone for the film when Macaulay Culkin, who played Kevin, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

At the ceremony, Culkin was joined by his on-screen mom, Catherine O’Hara, who portrayed Kate McCallister. In a heartfelt speech, O’Hara honored Culkin’s contribution to the film’s enduring appeal.
“Home Alone was, is, and always will be a beloved global sensation,” O’Hara said. “The reason families all over the world can’t let a year go by without watching and loving Home Alone together is because of Macaulay Culkin.”
She lauded Culkin’s “perfect performance,” crediting his mix of humor and relatability as the heart of the movie’s success.
