A man has revealed how much he’s made on a TikTok video amassing over 1 million views – and it’s safe to say it’s not what people were expecting.
In this day and age, many young people aspire to become social media influencers, particularly with platforms such as TikTok seeming to make instant fame and fortune come easy.
But with the ban of TikTok looming in the US, how much could your favorite creators be missing out on when they are no longer able to cash in on the app?
Well, not as much as you’re probably expecting, as one creator has revealed exactly how much they earn.

The YouTuber, who goes by Howfinity on the platform, is known for tech-focused videos and tutorials, and has almost a million subscribers.
He shared how the coveted TikTok Creator Fund actually works, and how much people can expect to make off their content.
For those that aren’t aware, TikTok’s Creator Fund is how many creators get paid on the app, with the amount of money they make partially based on how many views they draw in.
But unless you’re already on it – and even if you are – the amount people actually make can seem shrouded in secrecy.
For those hoping to get on the scheme and start cashing in, there are a few stringent rules for who is eligible to be part of it.
Creators need to be over the age of 18, have at least 10,000 followers or 100,000 views in the last 30 days, and consistently post original content which doensn’t go against the community guidelines.
If you can tick all those boxes, you can apply to be part of the Creator Fund, and if approved, will be able to track your analytics as well as make money from your videos.
Howfinity lifted the lid on how much he made, revealing that he got 3.9 million views in the week or so after making the account.
However, around 2.7 million of those views were racked up before he was accepted into the program, so were not eligible for payment.
He worked out that 1.2 million of his views were monetized, and with such massive viewing he must be raking in the big bucks, right?
Well, not really.
He revealed that across five days of getting paid, he made $36.64 from his million views.
On day one of being on the Creator Fund, he earned $6.09, which increased to $23.14 on a day where one of his videos went viral, before dropping to $3.50, $2.80, and $1.11 per day as the week went on.
Pretty disappointing news for those hoping they could retire and live off TikTok views alone.

But some creators do make their whole living from social media – so how do they make more than just lunch money on the app?
Howfinity explained that the best way to utilize TikTok to make serious cash is due to “the ability to go viral, get a lot of viewers and then get people to other platforms or products or services.”
Understandably, people were pretty disappointed in the meager earnings for a million views – which isn’t particularly easy to get – and voiced their thoughts in the comments.
One wrote: “So, I see that they pay very little, so I better not quit my day job.”
Another added: “better off working fast food and working the fryer and everything else at the same time, glad i helped yall.”
Others commented: “Wow, that’s it! I thought be way more than that!”, and: “Tiktok doesn’t pay very good at all. I have almost 40k followers, over 5 million total views and roughly 800k likes. I’ve accumulated just over $60 for all of that without withdrawing.”
Better stick to the day job, as it appears TikTok is set to be shut down in the US within days anyway – not that you’d be losing out on much revenue by the looks of it anyway!
